The Workshop will be taking place on May 17-19th, 2013, hosted by the Bowen Island Fish and Wildlife Club, on Bowen Island. Be sure to book your accommodation soon, as Bowen Island is a popular long weekend destination.

This biennial workshop is a gathering of SEP community volunteers from throughout British Columbia. It is a time of giving thanks to those who dedicate countless hours working to protect and preserve our local waterways, salmon and salmon habitat. The event provides volunteers with a chance to learn new skills, share ideas and meet other volunteers from across the province. A time of rejuvenation as well as learning new skills and ideas for additional works to take back to their home watersheds.

Workshop sessions will include BMP's for community hatcheries, monitoring skills, how to use the tools of the trade, policy in practice, fun(d) raising, communications and more.

These workshops will assist in the learning curve for new volunteers, and veterans alike.

The displays and tradeshows section will showcase the province-wide movement of watershed protection and awareness.

The planning of this wonderful event has already begun. We have a committed team who have been involved in the undertaking of these workshop before, and our volunteers are looking forward to working within this team. We will meet once a month till January and then more frequently as needed. Our team will include volunteers from the Bowen Island Fish and Wildlife Society, Bowen Island Streamkeepers. North Shore Streamkeepers, Seymour Salmonid Society, West Vancouver Streamkeepers, Pacific Streamkeepers Federation and four local CA's. We will be highlighting DFO BMP's for fish husbandry, streamkeeper monitoring protocols and education that works.
