Our activities include monitoring the abundance and health of salmon populations, removing invasive plants, educating the local community and the next generation on issues related to stream habitat and more.
Learning to live in harmony with our environment, fostering respect and protection of our resources are at the heart of the North Shore Streamkeepers and the many projects we undertake
We periodically gather volunteers to help us remove invasive plants and replace them with native ones, ensuring a healthy ecosystem.
By monitoring the abundance and health of returning salmonids, we can work with hatcheries and local governments to protect, enhance & restore salmon populations.
We regularly run community workshops as well as organize field trips for students to build awareness and raise important issues related to waterway preservation.
North Shore Streamkeepers come from all walks of life. They are ordinary people who are willing to be trained, spend their free time monitoring and improving streams and waterways. They have an interest in local history, ecology, and lifestyle. You may stumble upon a streamkeeper or a group of streamkeepers taking part in one of many activities.
We use donations to continue protecting and preserving waterways on Vancouver’s North Shore.
